The AFA

The Advertising Freelancers Association is the first industry body of its kind, representing the interests of freelancers in the advertising industry. Our community comprises Integrated Agency, Hybrid and Broadcast Producers / Assistant Producers, Business Affairs and permanent Agency staff members via ‘Friends of the AFA’.

With consistent commitment to addressing the challenges faced by independent professionals, the AFA has become the go-to platform for freelancers seeking fair pay, a supportive community and enhanced visibility.

Ongoing Support

The AFA provides ongoing support and guidance to freelancers throughout their careers. We regularly assist producers with freelance employment contracts (both inside and outside IR35), professional challenges and advice. There is also the support provided by our growing community via the AFA platform, where members can message each other, and social media.

AFA members have exclusive access to regular freelance and permanent job postings from renowned agencies, brands, and industry-leading head hunters.

We assess freelance rates every year and raise them in accordance with the economic climate, cost of living and general buoyancy of the industry.
We also occasionally review the tiers of experience, which have been put together after much thought and research by industry leading producers and heads of production. Both our rates and tiers of experience are available and downloadable for employers.
